Each year, the Center for Academic Success is proud to honor the students, faculty, staff, and departments who go above and beyond in supporting our programs and services for the benefit of Georgia Tech undergraduates.
GT 1000 Friend of the Freshman Seminar
Established in 2004, the Friend of the Freshman Seminar Award honors the contributions of an outstanding individual, department, or organization that has supported Georgia Tech's freshman seminar program- GT 1000. Past recipients include:
- 2004 The Office of the Registrar
- 2005 The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL)
- 2006 Dr. Bill Osher and John Stein, Former Directors of Success Programs (in recognition of the 20th Anniversary of the Freshman Seminar)
- 2007 Julia Whitfield, Former Administrative Coordinator in Success Programs
- 2008 The Library and Information Center
- 2009 Sandi Bramblett, Cassandra Spiller, and Institutional Rsearch and Planning
- 2010 The Freshman Experience Program, Dr. Mike Fulford, and Brett Hulst
- 2011 Bethany Naser, Eric Tack, Jonathan Duke, and Latonya Culberson (former staff members in Success Programs) and the Division of Student Affairs (in recognition of the 25th anniversary of the Freshman Seminar at GT)
GT 1000 Team Leaders (TLs) of the Year
Each year, GT1000 students and instructors nominate outstanding Team Leaders for this award. Winners are chosen based on their relationship as a role model or mentor, ability to provide significant and sound advice, and their facilitation of the learning process in the classroom.

Outstanding 1-to-1 Tutor and PLUS Leader
The Outstanding PLUS Leader and 1-to-1 Tutor awards honor students who are exemplary in knowledge, patience, and adaptability and who go above and beyond to support the academic success of their fellow students. Nominees of the award are submitted by students who participate in these programs, and the awards are presented at the annual Up With the White and Gold Banquet.
